Emma Sullivan is the driving force behind The Unspoken Communication Project. Born into a family of both hearing and Deaf siblings, Emma has lived her life at the intersection of two worlds. Her unique journey of growing up severely deaf, later becoming profoundly deaf after an accident, and receiving bilateral cochlear implants has shaped her deep understanding of communication barriers and the bridges needed to overcome them.
With professional experiences in the government sector and in primary schools, Emma has seen firsthand how inclusion (or the lack of it) shapes lives. Her lived experiences of advocacy, alongside challenges of discrimination and resilience, fuel her commitment to creating spaces where communication flows freely and no one is left behind.
Emma is not only a passionate advocate but also a wife, mother of two, nature lover, and student of Business (majoring Human Resources). Her lived empathy, professional insights, and bilingual fluency in both spoken English and Auslan make her uniquely positioned to inspire change and guide others in building more inclusive futures.
Emma also holds a valid Working with Children Check, Level 2 First Aid and completed Cert. in Education Support (Disability Support).
Letter from Emma.
