2027 Deaf Awareness School Tour

The Project team is going on an adventure! We will be travelling to regional schools to bring meaningful, real-world learning into classrooms and school communities.

Through interactive sessions, students and teachers will gain a understanding of deafness and Auslan while building confidence, empathy, and practical skills that can be used beyond the classroom. Communication is something many of us take for granted without realising.

Each session is tailored to suit the age group and learning level, and may include:

  • Introduction to Deaf culture and awareness

  • Understanding communication barriers and real-life experiences

  • Demonstrations of how sound may be perceived with hearing differences

  • Practical strategies for communicating with deaf peers

  • Interactive activities involving student participation

  • Open Q&A session (a favourite for older students!)

Sessions are designed to be engaging and educational.

For deaf and hard of hearing individuals, everyday interactions can present challenges but with the right awareness and tools, schools can become inclusive, supportive environments where everyone feels understood and respected.

Our goals is to leave a lasting impact and we aim to:

  • Encourage schools to explore Auslan as part of their curriculum

  • Support inclusive communication practices in classrooms

  • Create opportunities for Deaf community engagement and employment

  • Provide resources that continue learning beyond the session

If you would like us to visit your school or be a part of the tour, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you.
